Making Curved Mdf Doors

Mdf doors are superior in terms of quality compared to molded doors and can be apportioned for the purpose of constructing vertical panels and rails.

Initially the company tried making curved doors by using a steam bending process but found the results were not accurate and spring back was common. They may be built as a full door or in concert with wood. For this part we forgot to take pictures but the process is fairly simple. Making these complicated parts requires careful planning and building.

Mdf doors are built of a medium density fiberboard which is a processed wood product and are usually applied in paint grade applications. I have tried making a press and gluing together sheets of 3mm mdf using a polyurethene fast set glue and have found the finished door thicker in some places than others due to foaming effect of the glue. Nail 2 pieces of mdf together so both molds will be exactly the same.
